Olivia Wilde is slowly starting to blow up. While most know her from her days on The O.C., things really started to take off for the young actress after she appeared in last year’s TRON: Legacy. Her star continues to rise this summer as audiences can catch her in another big blockbuster, Cowboys & Aliens. No doubt more and more offers are starting to be made to the young actress and today we get news that she is circling a role as porn star Linda Lovelace, in one of the competing biopics.
There are currently two Linda Lovelace films in production. One is Inferno, starring Malin Akerman and Matt Dillon. Production was supposed to begin this month but apparently word on the film is that things have slowed down a bit. The other one is by Howl directors Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman. Last we heard, Kate Hudson and James Franco were circling but like Inferno, not much else has popped up in regards to how the film is getting on.
While at the premiere for Cowboys & Aliens, Wilde said that she was eyeing the lead role in the second Lovelace biopic. Speaking to E!, the actress said:
“It would be a tremendous honor,” Wilde said. “It’s such a cool role. She was a fascinating woman—with where she came from to ‘Deep Throat’ to then working with Gloria Steinem and Nora Ephron. It’s really fascinating.”
I can actually see Wilde in the role and it may be a good career move for her, taking on riskier roles. However, I don’t really care for Olivia Wilde either way. She’s just one of those actresses that doesn’t do much for me. That being said, I am quite interested in both Linda Lovelace biopics as those familiar with her will know that her life story would probably make for some good entertainment.
While this casting isn’t official yet, we’ll be sure to let you know if Wilde takes the role.
