Patrick Stewart Would Return To The X-Men Franchise If It Involved Deadpool

James Mangold's Logan hits theaters today and marks Hugh Jackman's final time playing the iconic hero. It's been one hell of a run, but the actor is now ready to hang up the adamantium claws, and if the reviews are anything to go by, the threequel is going to give him one hell of a sendoff. But it won't only be the Aussie waving goodbye to the X-Men franchise, as his co-star, Patrick Stewart, has also revealed that he's finished with all things mutants, leaving behind the role of Professor Charles Xavier for good.

James Mangold’s Logan hits theaters today and marks Hugh Jackman’s final time playing the iconic hero. It’s been one hell of a run, but the actor is now ready to hang up the adamantium claws, and if the reviews are anything to go by, the threequel is going to give him one hell of a sendoff. But it won’t only be the Aussie waving goodbye to the X-Men franchise, as his co-star, Patrick Stewart, has also revealed that he’s finished with all things mutants, leaving behind the role of Professor Charles Xavier for good.

He announced as much last week, but it sounds like he’s now had a bit of a change of heart. Well, not completely, but there is one thing that could potentially lure him back for more X-Men action, and it involves a certain Merc with a Mouth. Yes, all roads lead to Deadpool it seems, and in a recent interview with MTV, Stewart noted that a role in the Ryan Reynolds-led series could justify more Charles Xavier.

When asked if he was done with X-Men for good, the actor said the following:

“I would have said yes, but the discussion just now about Deadpool makes me think, well, maybe there is a proper justification for the revival of Charles Xavier.”

What’s interesting here is that this isn’t the first time Stewart has expressed interest in hopping into one of Wade Wilson’s big screen outings. Just last month he said that the two characters should crossover at some point, leading to speculation that it just might happen in Deadpool 2.

At the moment, there are no plans that we know of to have Stewart return to the franchise, be it in an X-Men movie or in one of the Merc’s films, but it seems that the interest is there, on the actor’s part at least, and perhaps we shouldn’t completely rule out seeing him again.

What do you think? Is Logan the end for Stewart, or could he re-appear somewhere down the line? Let us know your thoughts in the usual place.
