The genocidal finger-snap that concluded the recent Avengers: Infinity War came as a shock to many unsuspecting viewers, and it was quite the surprise for the cast, too, with the actors only being told that some of them would be getting disintegrated on the same day these deaths were shot. There was, however, one super-powered star of the Marvel franchise who was informed beforehand about the universe-changing event about to unfold. The funny thing is, the actor privy to this information wasn’t even a part of the interplanetary action of this Marvel mega-hit.
While Earth’s Mightiest Heroes were busy fighting a losing battle against Thanos, Paul Rudd was working on his smaller-scaled superhero flick Ant-Man and the Wasp. Speaking on the This Week in Marvel podcast, the actor explained that his writing credit for Scott Lang’s latest picture gave him access to some of the saga’s biggest secrets.
“Oh yea, I knew about it before. Before Infinity War. I knew about it because I’m one of the writers on the script. So I was aware of the some of the things like that we saw in Infinity War. I feel like I’m being let in on some government secrets.”
So, it turns out Doctor Strange isn’t the only hero in the MCU who could foresee the events of Avengers: Infinity War. Sadly, though Rudd saw it coming, Scott and his peers ultimately suffered the consequences in the mid-credits scene of Ant-Man and the Wasp, which saw Ant-Man stranded in the Quantum Realm after his colleagues all turn to dust. From the sound of things, Avengers 4 is going to continue Scott’s story from here, and it’s been widely speculated that the aforementioned realm will play a crucial part in this highly anticipated film.
In any case, you can find out what the future holds for both Scott and the post-snap MCU when Avengers 4 comes out on May 3rd, 2019.
