Pennywise Returns With Creepy New IT: Chapter Two Poster

With Avengers: Endgame already proving to be the biggest movie of the year and an absolute powerhouse at the box office, I must say there's a somewhat similar electricity surrounding IT: Chapter Two. Don't get me wrong, I don't see the Stephen King adaptation hitting the $3 billion mark, but I wouldn't be surprised if it raked in $1 billion. Really, it's not often that the horror genre births something that achieves the financial heights of 2017's IT flick, and sequels can often surpass their predecessors in that sense.

One reason that I made the comparison was that the teaser trailer which dropped this morning really got across this sense of finality. The stuff with Jessica Chastain was wonderfully creepy, sure, but the other snippets and accompanying music let us know that the sh!t’s about to hit the fan in a major way. Perhaps you also picked up that vibe while watching.

Now that the marketing machine has begun moving its gears, a foreboding new poster has hit the web as well. Seen below, the latest one-sheet promoting the film has a certain beauty in its simplicity. All we see here is Pennywise‘s hand holding two red balloons to signify that, yes, you’re going to watch a sequel in a matter of months. I’m not sure if it can best the logo for Ghostbusters 2, but this’ll do nicely.

Obviously, more goodies should be on the way in the very near future, so keep watching this space. Personally, I’d like to see more footage featuring other members of the adult Losers Club – and we’ll get it in due time, no doubt – but the aforementioned excerpt with Chastain has already enthralled me. I’m really looking forward to this movie more now than ever before, and I hope a fair amount of you are in agreement.

For more info and a rundown of key cast members, be sure to check out the following synopsis:

Because every 27 years evil revisits the town of Derry, Maine, “IT CHAPTER TWO” brings the characters—who’ve long since gone their separate ways—back together as adults, nearly three decades after the events of the first film. James McAvoy (“Split,” upcoming “Glass”) stars as Bill, Oscar nominee Jessica Chastain (“Zero Dark Thirty,” “Mama”) as Beverly, Bill Hader (HBO’s “Barry,” “The Skeleton Twins”) as Richie, Isaiah Mustafa (TV’s “Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments”) as Mike, Jay Ryan (TV’s “Mary Kills People”) as Ben, James Ransone (HBO’s “The Wire”) as Eddie, and Bill Skarsgård returning in the seminal role of Pennywise. Andy Bean (“Allegiant,” Starz’ “Power”) plays Stanley, and reprising their roles as the original members of the Losers Club are Jaeden Martell as Bill, Wyatt Oleff as Stanley, Sophia Lillis as Beverly, Finn Wolfhard as Richie, Jeremy Ray Taylor as Ben, Chosen Jacobs as Mike, and Jack Dylan Grazer as Eddie.

IT: Chapter Two opens in theaters on September 6th.
