New Posters From The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Show Off The Villains

I can't say that I'm too excited about The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Its predecessor was a vastly overrated film that really didn't do much for me. I know that I won't find too many people who agree with that sentiment but to each his own, right? So, whether I'm looking forward to it or not, a sequel to Marc Webb's successful series reboot will be swinging into theatres shortly and today, we have several new posters from the film to share with you.

I can’t say that I’m too excited about The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Its predecessor was a vastly overrated film that really didn’t do much for me. I know that I won’t find too many people who agree with that sentiment, but to each his own, right? So, whether I’m looking forward to it or not, a sequel to Marc Webb’s successful series reboot will be swinging into theatres shortly and today, we have several new posters from the film to share with you.

Featured here is Spidey himself, of course, as well as three of the villains that he’ll be facing off against: Dane DeHaan’s Green Goblin, Paul Giamatti’s Rhino and Jamie Foxx’s Electro. There’s nothing too revealing to be found here but it’s still nice to get an official look at some of the foes that the titular hero will have to contend with.

In addition to the posters, Sony has also released a new plot synopsis for the film, which can be viewed below:

We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead.

It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.

Of course, all this hype is leading up to the first trailer, which is set to land online this Thursday. We’ll have it posted as soon as it’s available so be sure to stay tuned.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 opens on May 2, 2014. Check out the posters below and keep an eye on WGTC for the new trailer.
