Now that Godzilla and Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston has been instated as the Rangers’ mentor, Zordon, Lionsgate is quietly beginning to jump-start its promotional campaign for Power Rangers, the live-action spectacle that is booked in for a theatrical release in early 2017.

Featuring all five of Lionsgate’s Rangers in civvies, our fresh-faced heroes stand tall directly below that famed lightning bolt, this time painted in a constellation of stars. It’s a fairly effective teaser, teeing up both the movie’s sci-fi elements along with the everyday teenagers destined for greater things – “Together we are more.”
Putting their mettle to the test is Elizabeth Banks (The Hunger Games) as the villainous Rita Repulsa, a powerful being who descends on Angel Grove with the intention of bringing planet Earth to its knees. Under the stewardship of Cranston’s mentor, Dacre Montgomery, Becky G, Ludi Lin, Naomi Scott, and RJ Cyler will be the ones donning those iconic color-coded suits when Power Rangers looms over theaters early next year.
Lionsgate and Saban’s Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers will make a beeline for theaters on March 24, 2017.
