Fans of Quentin Tarantino have waited for a long time, but the man who brought us Kill Bill, Pulp Fiction and Django Unchained is set to return to the limelight again. It’s been nearly four years since The Hateful Eight hit theaters and now, we’re only a month away from the release of Once Upon a Time In Hollywood, which, by all counts, is shaping up to be something truly special.
In an effort to promote his new film, Tarantino has been jet-setting all over, hitting the press junkets and conducting interviews to dish on just about everything. Aside from his latest flick, Quentin has also shared some information on a potential Star Trek sequel – fans will, of course, remember that Paramount Pictures is still working on a fourth movie in the mainline series in addition to QT’s project.
Recently, Tarantino sat down to speak with Empire Magazine, where he shared a few key details regarding his vision for a Star Trek film. As most moviegoers will no doubt be aware of, the famed director has a penchant for violence and foul language, and it seems his take on Gene Roddenberry’s beloved franchise won’t be sanitized or toned-down. Recently, Quentin confirmed a script for the film – penned by Mark L. Smith, of The Revenant fame – has been finished, and that he needs to take the time to provide his own notes on it.
While he has yet to weigh in on Smith’s script, Tarantino also revealed that the proposed project will be R-rated. This might not come as much of a surprise to those who’ve followed his career, but some Star Trek fans might be curious as to how a grittier, more violent adaptation of the long-running franchise would fare. Of course, with a Django Unchained/Zorro crossover also in the works, there’s no telling when (or if) Quentin’s sci-fi flick will even see the light of day, but we live in hope.
