Rob Zombie Wants To Remake Creature From The Black Lagoon

Rob Zombie currently has his hands full with 3 From Hell, which is now done shooting and, from what we understand, headed into post-production shortly. But that hasn't stopped the filmmaker from looking ahead to the future and dreaming up what projects he'd like to do next.

The fan favorite director has been pretty vocal in the past about what he’d like to get his hands on and now, in a recent interview, he’s expressed interest in remaking Creature from the Black Lagoon. While chatting with HDNet Movies, here’s what Zombie had to share:

One thing I always thought was possible was to remake The Creature from the Black Lagoon. Because the creature itself, in that phenomenal suit they constructed, could be exactly the same. So I think Creature from the Black Lagoon could be a cool one.

For those unfamiliar with the property, the 1954 original told the story of a “group of scientists on an expedition through the Amazon who discover a human-fish hybrid.” Over the years, countless attempts to remake the movie have failed to get off the ground and though Universal was originally going to give it another go as part of their Dark Universe initiative, that seems to be up in the air now thanks to The Mummy bombing.

Regardless, fans of Rob Zombie still have much to look forward to. It remains to be seen if he’ll ever get a stab at Creature from the Black Lagoon, but the director’s got the aforementioned 3 From Hell in the pipeline, which is said to be a “masterpiece.” High praise, indeed, and we’ll find our for ourselves if that’s the case at some point next year.
