That largely comes down to the fact that Joe and Anthony Russo chose to shoot both ensemble movies back-to-back, resulting in a bottleneck of photos and leaked set pics. And though we still don’t know very much about either of the aforementioned films, it’s fair to say that both MCU tentpoles are among the most-anticipated movies on the Hollywood calendar.

And for good reason, it seems, as according to Robert Downey Jr., 2018 will be all about Avengers: Infinity War. Taking to Instagram to share a message with his followers earlier this week, the actor posted the below photo along with the caption: #HappyNewYear, everyone! Just a little reminder of what we have to look forward to…

Though hardly a tease to stop the presses, it’s fun to see RDJ getting in on all the hype surrounding the blockbuster and we’ve no doubt that this year will largely be dominated by what the Russo brothers are cooking up. Or at least, the film world will be dominated by it. There really is no bigger release in 2018 and with the movie set to be the culmination of the last decade of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it’s sure to be an event like no other.

In regards to what we can expect from Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark in the film, well, just last week he drew attention to his character’s fractured relationship with his old buddy, Steve Rogers (AKA Captain America/Nomad), which is seemingly about to “take a turn” in the aftermath of Civil War. Some wounds never heal, as the old saying goes.

“That’s the hardest for me, because I look at Evans and I just to want to go over and smell him or tell him he looks cool in those sunglasses when he’s walking over to have lunch. And then I’m just staring daggers at him, getting mad. But even that relationship is going to take a turn.”

The stakes have never been higher, and as the journey to Avengers: Infinity War continues, we can readily expect one or two big revelations (and likely a second trailer) to drop before May 4th, 2018.
