Robert Downey Jr. Spotted In SWAT Gear On Avengers 4 Set

If Avengers 4 is to feature a flashback to the Battle of New York, then Marvel isn't exactly doing a good job of hiding it. In the past few days alone, Just Jared and a handful of other people have captured photos from the sequel's bustling Atlanta set, which revealed Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Hemsworth rolling back the years - the former was spotted wearing a very familiar Black Sabbath T-shirt, while Marvel's God of Thunder suddenly regained those luscious locks.

In the past few days alone, Just Jared and a handful of other people have captured photos from the sequel’s bustling Atlanta set, which revealed Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Hemsworth rolling back the years – the former was spotted wearing a very familiar Black Sabbath T-shirt, while Marvel’s God of Thunder suddenly regained those luscious locks. Not to mention we also saw some pics of Loki looking just like he did circa 2012.

So, it’s fair to say that there will most definitely be a flashback scene, then, but the latest batch of set snaps have now thrown even more questions into the mix. That’s because they feature RDJ in what appears to be SWAT gear. Why Tony Stark would be dressed up like this is anyone’s guess, but you can take a look at the new pics of Iron Man, along with a few of Mark Ruffalo in his mo-cap suit, down below.

Again, it’s hard to say what exactly’s going on here, but if nothing else, these photos do confirm that Tony will make it out of Infinity War alive. True, we’ve known that RDJ is involved in Avengers 4 for a few weeks now, but there was always a chance that it could have just been flashbacks that he showed up in. Thankfully, though, it looks like that won’t be the case and he’ll be appearing in scenes set in the present day, too.

Now that Thor: Ragnarok has brought the curtain down on the studio’s 2017 offerings, Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther solo movie will be the MCU’s next effort and is set to introduce fans to Wakadan royalty on February 16th, before Joe and Anthony Russo wage Avengers: Infinity War on May 4th, 2018. And after that? The untitled Avengers 4, which is currently slated for release on May 3rd, 2019.
