While Warner Bros. is keeping pretty tight-lipped about the next Christopher Nolan movie, it seems that the director’s upcoming “event film” has already found a couple of noteworthy cast members.
For one, we know that John David Washington is on board, while joining him will be none other than Robert Pattinson. Though the actor first found fame thanks to his work in the Twilight and Harry Potter films, he’s since shifted gears and has begun to build up some serious indie cred, teaming up with esteemed directors like David Cronenberg (Cosmopolis, Maps to the Stars), James Gray (The Lost City of Z), the Safdie Brothers (Good Time) and Claire Denis (High Life).
But before he heads over to Nolan’s new effort, Pattinson is first doing press for High Life and while speaking with USA Today, he teased that whatever it is that The Dark Knight director is cooking up with his next effort, it’s going to be “unreal.”
“I got locked in a room to read the script – I don’t have it myself,” the actor said. “I’ve been a little wary of doing big movies for years and years, but there’s just something about Chris Nolan’s stuff. He seems like the only director now who can do what is essentially a very personal, independent movie that has huge scale. I read the script and it’s unreal.”
Though plot details remain heavily under wraps, there’s been some speculation that Nolan’s next film might actually be “a sequel of sorts to Inception.” There’s also been word that it’ll take the form of an “action blockbuster in the spirit of North by Northwest.”
Unfortunately, we don’t have much more to go on aside from that, but with a script now completed, a couple of stars in place and production expected to get underway this summer, it shouldn’t be too much longer before we learn more. And besides, this is Christopher Nolan we’re talking about. No matter what he’s got planned for us, you can bet that it’ll be something truly special and we have no reason to doubt Pattinson when he says that the film is going to be “unreal.”
