According to the outlet, it is Cara Delevingne’s mysterious Enchantress that will act as the primary antagonist of Ayer’s feature. While unconfirmed, the report points to an arc that would see Enchantress (aka June Moone) set out on a mission to bring her brother back from the dead, a supernatural act that threatens to thrust the entire world into peril.
Remember the scenes in the first trailer where Delevingne’s character is exploring a dark and murky cave? Or the shot of her grimacing in a bath of dark liquid beneath a pentagram? Telling signs, potentially, for Enchantress’ major part in Suicide Squad. After all, the actress herself one teased the volatile, almost bi-polar nature of the witch not too long ago, and it’s possible her Enchantress could act as one of Task Force X’s first assignments.
Waller and Delevingne are just the tip of a star-studded iceberg for Ayer’s supervillain feature, with Will Smith as Deadshot, Jared Leto as the Joker, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Karen Fukuhara as Katana, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, Jay Hernandez as El DIablo, Adam Beach as Slipknot, as well as Ike Barinholtz, Scott Eastwood, Raymond Olubowale, Alex Meraz, Jim Parrack, and Common.
Suicide Squad, the third entry into the embryonic DC Expanded Universe, will open in theaters on August 5, 2016.
