After sitting on Avengers: Endgame’s biggest spoilers for so long, directors Anthony and Joe Russo aren’t about to spill the beans via Twitter less than two months before release. Nonetheless, a recent post from the pair has got fans thinking that the brothers may be preparing us for the oft-predicted death of one Steve Rogers.

The post in question seems to be little more than an innocent shout out to a video from YouTuber iAmRookie that pays tribute to Captain America. Using footage from across Chris Evans’ run in the MCU, the fan-made homage ultimately suggests that Steve’s journey is about to meet its point of culmination with the upcoming Endgame.

When the Russo Brothers shared this video, it’s likely that they meant nothing by it except to show their appreciation for iAmRookie’s work, but since the filmmakers have a history of posting cryptic teases for the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War sequel, perhaps it’s only natural that some Twitter users are interpreting it as a sign that Cap’s final hour is near.

Though we wouldn’t read too much into the Russo Brothers’ tweet, there’s still plenty of reason to believe that Captain America won’t live to see the end credits of Endgame, from the potential spoiler dropped last month by Serena Williams, to the fact that Evans’ contract most likely expires with this next film.

At the very least, it’s looking very likely that Avengers: Endgame will serve as the last major outing for more than one Phase 1 Avenger, Steve included, but we’ll find out who gets to make the sacrifice play and who gets to settle down for a quiet retirement when the film hits theaters on April 26th, 2019.
