Citing The Hollywood Reporter’s article from back in July, sources now claim that Marisa Tomei will be making her debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in May. Contrary to previous reports, this would mean that the actress would be making her bow as the younger Aunt May long before Marvel’s 2017 standalone feature, and it only aligns with the numerous rumors about Spider-Man’s substantial role in Civil War.

First up, here’s the original snippet from THR that sent the rumor mill in motion.

Contrary to other reports, THR hears that Tomei’s Aunt May may be making her first appearance in Marvel and Disney’s Captain America: Civil War. Holland’s Peter Parker is also expected to cameo in that 2016 film.

Now comes the question: where will Aunt May appear? Common logic would dictate that her Civil War role will be situated in Peter Parker’s bedroom, after props from Tom Holland’s new digs appeared not too long ago. Of course, Aunt May is such an integral part of Spider-Man’s origin story that it would make sense for the Russo siblings to include her in their grand Phase Three feature, though it’s still worth taking this rumor with a grain of salt for the time being.

All will be revealed when Captain America: Civil War launches into theatres on May 6, 2016.
