Having already tackled subject matter including boxing robots and museum displays coming to life, Real Steel and Night at the Museum director Shawn Levy is next set to produce post-apocalyptic, action-comedy Monster Problems for Paramount.

According to THR, Levy will adapt the story from a spec script by Brian Duffield, who also wrote Jane Got a Gun, an upcoming western from director Lynne Ramsay (We Need to Talk About Kevin) starring Natalie Portman.

The plot is being described as a “road trip” film in a similar vein to Mad Max and Zombieland with “John Hughes” overtones. This premise also sounds familiar to the upcoming apocalyptic rom-com Seeking a Friends for the End of the World with Steve Carell and Keira Knightley.

There is no word if Levy will opt to jump on as director as well, but that would not be a surprise considering his past resume.

We’ll bring you more developments as they come.
