It seems as if Shia LaBeouf has finally had enough of all the attacks and criticisms that have been levelled against him in recent months, as the actor has announced his retirement today via Twitter.

If you’ve been keeping up with your news, you’ll know that people haven’t been too kind to LaBeouf lately. In all fairness though, most of these criticisms have been warranted as the actor was caught plagiarizing. Even without taking that incident into consideration, the past five years or so have seen LaBeouf engage in some pretty odd behaviour and make a couple of very weird career choices. To be honest, it’s kind of his own fault that he’s in the position he’s in right now.

It’s a shame, too, because LaBeouf is not a bad actor, not by any means. He showed tremendous potential when he was younger and can still deliver entertaining performances. Unfortunately though, due to his behaviour, he’s becoming a bit of a joke in Hollywood, quickly turning into a watered down version of Mel Gibson or Lindsay Lohan.

Whatever the real reason for LaBeouf’s retirement is, I assume we’ll never know. Then again, we don’t even know if this is real. It could be a prank, or it might be short-lived. Only time will tell.

If Shia LaBeouf is indeed retiring, do you think it’s about time, or too soon?
