First Sinister 2 Poster Scares Up A Warning

Blumhouse Productions has dropped the first teaser poster for this summer's scarefest Sinister 2. A fairly-standard one sheet offering it nevertheless sends a chill down the spine. From the two figures hanging from its numeric subtitle to the unforgettable image of Bughuul smeared onto a drab wall in blood, this sequel is shaping up to be just as terrifying as the 2012 original.

From the two figures hanging off its numeric subtitle to the unforgettable image of Bughuul smeared onto a drab wall in blood, this sequel is shaping up to be just as terrifying as the 2012 original.

For the second trip into the heinous shenanigans of the aforementioned demon, original director Scott Derrickson has passed the torch to Ciaran Foy (Citadel) but has kept his creative fingerprints all over the movie. Derrickson co-wrote the screenplay with C. Robert Cargill, both of whom penned the first.

Whereas Sinister followed Ethan Hawke’s true crime writer as he and his family fell victim to Bughuul, Sinister 2 starts afresh with a new family. Shannyn Sossamon (The Rules Of Attraction, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang) leads as a mother of two whose house is earmarked for death. Sinister 2 opens across the U.S. on August 21.

The sequel to the 2012 sleeper hit horror movie. In the aftermath of the shocking events in “Sinister,” a protective mother (Shannyn Sossamon of “Wayward Pines”) and her 9-year-old twin sons (real-life twins Robert and Dartanian Sloan) find themselves in a rural house marked for death as the evil spirit of Buhguul continues to spread with frightening intensity.
