Smuggler. Scoundrel. Hero?
With a trailer reveal seemingly on the cards, two sun-kissed promo pics for Solo: A Star Wars Story have blasted onto the interwebs today, revealing our first peek at the young Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich) and Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover), along with Emilia Clarke’s unnamed character. Oh, and Chewie. Because we can’t forget about Chewie.
You’ll also notice that the Millennium Falcon is slightly different to the one seen in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which aligns with previous reports that Ron Howard’s 2018 spinoff will feature a remodeled Falcon – long before it was known as the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy. There’s also been mention of the famous Kessel Run, given Howard previously tweeted out a picture of what we assume to be the Kessel Spice Mines – a fixture of Star Wars lore, as it plays into the whole 12 parsecs yarn.
But without further ado, below you’ll find those alleged promo pics – one with the film’s international logo, and the other without.
Story-wise, it’s understood the pic chronicles Han Solo’s journey between the ages of 16 and 24, though given Howard reshot a lot more of Solo than was originally intended, it’d be wise to discard any and all story rumors you’ve heard about Lucasfilm’s second Star Wars anthology movie.
Said to be influenced by old-school Westerns and heist films, Solo: A Star Wars Story has been pitched as a space-faring caper – fitting, really, given the titular character at its core – and it’ll be with us on May 25th, 2018. Stay tuned to WGTC over the coming weeks when we’ll have full coverage of Ron Howard’s long-anticipated spinoff and, presumably, its maiden trailer.
