New Solo: A Star Wars Story Featurette Offers Plenty Of New Footage

Lucasfilm has released a brand new featurette for Solo: A Star Wars Story today which offers up plenty of new footage for fans to feast on.

Though the movie on everyone’s mind right now is undoubtedly Avengers: Infinity War, and for good reason, it’s important to remember that 2018 still has several other huge blockbusters on the way. One of which is Solo: A Star Wars Story, the next chapter in Lucasfilm’s prized franchise which, admittedly, isn’t creating as much of a stir online as movies from that galaxy far, far away usually do.

Chalk that up to the fact that the studio waited so long to show us anything from the pic, or those nasty rumors which plagued its troubled production. But for some reason or other, there just doesn’t seem to be very much excitement for Solo at the moment, something that Lucasfilm is obviously hoping to change. And so, as we quickly approach its release date (May 25th), the promos have been arriving at an alarming rate and today, we’ve got another one.

Seen up above, it centers on the titular hero and Alden Ehrenreich’s version of him. Made up of soundbites from folks like Ron Howard, Donald Glover, Emilia Clarke and more, there’s also quite a bit of new footage to feast on here – which should please fans who are thirsty for more.

For one, there’s a cool fight scene on the planet Mimban, which seemingly takes place during Han’s time in the Empire. There’s also more of that sabacc game between the titular smuggler and Lando, showing us some of the promising chemistry that the two characters share.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly about the fan favorite Lando Calrissian and what to expect from him, here’s what Solo‘s stars teased:

“Lando’s always the best-dressed person on that set. And I don’t say that lightly. There’s a lot of cool costumes and a lot of cool clothing,” Glover told EW. “He takes pride in the clothing. It makes things easier. When people see you and you’re debonair, they tend to want to give you stuff easier.”

“[Han and Lando’s] relationship is many different things, as it is when you see them in the original films,” adds Alden Ehrenreich. “I think they have very different styles.”

Despite a bumpy production in which Ron Howard replaced Phil Lord and Chris Miller behind the camera, Solo: A Star Wars Story has now been cleared for take-off. Its destination? The Cannes Film Festival on May 15th, before hitting theaters on May 25th.
