‘Sorry for any upset’: Unfortunate interns are only making people madder about Disney’s rampant content purge

They're only doing their jobs!

Not to generalize, but it would be fair to say that a lot of social media accounts affiliated with major companies and corporations hire interns to do the heavy lifting, which is starting to backfire in the face of Disney wiping its spate of recent cancellations off the face of the planet.

In the last few days alone, $50 million sci-fi blockbuster Crater was removed from Disney Plus exactly seven weeks to the day since it premiered, while Freeform original The Watchful Eye was kicked off no less than four Mouse-House affiliated platforms 24 hours after its cancellation was confirmed, with Single Drunk Female also being cast into the abyss.

As a result, fans of the projects in question have been bombarding the company’s Twitter residences with furious outpourings of indignation, leaving those poor and unfortunate interns to fight a losing battle. Hulu seems to be getting the brunt of the abuse, too, and matters aren’t being helped by a generic response being tossed out to virtually all inquiries relating to the aforementioned titles.

“Sorry for any upset! [Insert Title Here] has expired from our Hulu streaming library (https://hulu.tv/Expired-). We’ll be sure to let our content team know you’d like to see it added back in the future. We suggest keeping an eye on: https://hulu.tv/NewThisMonth for updates.”

Obviously, there’s nothing the people manning the keyboards can do about it, and they’re technically under no obligation to reply, either. However, you’ve got to hand it to them for at least trying to stem the tide of discontent, even if being borderline banal is probably a worse idea than offering a one-note rebuttal that simply states the obvious.
