It Sounds Like Paramount Is Already Gearing Up For Star Trek 4

As of right now, there isn't an awful lot of hype surrounding Star Trek Beyond, but that will hopefully change when the next trailer is finally released. However, clearly confident in the success of that and the franchise in general, a new report seems to point to Paramount Pictures already making plans for a fourth movie.

As of right now, there isn’t an awful lot of hype surrounding Star Trek Beyond, but that will hopefully change when the next trailer is finally released. However, clearly confident in the success of that and the franchise in general, a new report seems to point to Paramount Pictures already making plans for a fourth movie.

The studio has reportedly already registered the Star Trek 4 title with the MPAA, and while that’s unlikely to be what the film is ultimately called, Paramount is clearly already preparing for it.

The last “Star Trek 4” was 1986’s The Voyage Home, but this new series of movies began when J.J. Abrams rebooted the franchise back in 2009. As he was busy with Star Wars: The Force Awakens when it came time for the third entry into the new series, the filmmaker was forced to pass on helming the next instalment, hence why Fast & Furious director Justin Lin took over for Beyond.

We’ve known for a while that Paramount secured Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto for a fourth film, giving them a pretty huge pay rise in the process, so worries about whether or not key cast members will return for the undated Star Trek 4 shouldn’t be too much of a concern for fans.

Star Trek Beyond is set to be released on July 22nd, while a TV series is currently in the works as well and is set to air in 2017.
