Spider-Man: Far From Home’s Tom Holland Reacts To Benedict Cumberbatch’s Impression Of Him

Benedict Cumberbatch Tom Holland

Tom Holland is one of the most likeable actors around. Not only is his Peter Parker ridiculously endearing and pleasantly sincere, but in every piece of promotional material he appears in, he comes across as a really good egg. I mean, there’s not too many people who could take nearly being set on fire with this much panache.

Holland’s energy and exuberance has been on display during the press campaigns for Avengers: Infinity WarAvengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home, to the point where he’s generally considered at risk for inadvertently giving away spoilers. He’s so distinctive, in fact, that his co-stars have also noticed, and they’ve begun to do hilariously accurate impressions of him.

Benedict Cumberbatch was the best of the bunch, showing us a decent Tom Holland during an interview to promote Avengers: Infinity War. Now, in a chat with BBC Radio 1, Holland was given the opportunity to critique it:

“I have seen Benedict impersonating me and actually it’s not that bad. He hasn’t got the accent or the voice, but he’s got the energy.”

Zendaya then chipped in, saying that she’s got her own Holland impression up her sleeve, but that she “can’t do the Tom, but I can do Tom’s Peter Parker.” Jacob Batalon has also apparently had a go, to mixed results though: “I tried doing a Tom but it just sounded, it just sounded like I was trying to be English. Zendaya agreed: “It just sounded generic British person.”

Curious, Holland tried to get Batalon to give up the goods, but he just laughed nervously and tried to deflect the question:

“I really don’t want to do this (laughs). It’s like Love Island. You’ve heard it before.”

Holland responded:

“It’s like Love Island? How is this anything like Love Island? Oh, the way you speak. If you’re referring to the guy who narrates the show he’s Scottish and sounds nothing like me.”

Well, whatever Batalon’s terrible Tom Holland impression turns out to be, it seems that we can at least be sure it’s not a patch on Benedict Cumberbatch’s.
