It’s no secret that Marvel’s TV universe and the MCU have often operated on separate sides of the track.
Aside from the odd shoutout here and there, the likes of Daredevil and Jessica Jones have existed under the looming shadow of Marvel’s cinematic juggernauts without so much as us even seeing a small cameo. Or at least, that was the case until Avengers: Endgame, as the film finally – finally! – acknowledged Marvel’s TV universe by featuring a character from the now-canceled Agent Carter series.
But it turns out that wasn’t the first movie to include an MCU TV to movie crossover, and it also wasn’t the last. You see, an eagle-eyed fan has realized this week that there’s one actor who’s now made six appearances in the MCU and has been seen in both the films and on the Netflix shows. His name? Patrick Kiernan, a television host and local news anchor who’s actually played himself in a whole bunch of Marvel movies and TV series.
See below for where he’s showed up already:
His most recent appearance in the MCU actually came in Spider-Man: Far From Home, which caps off a run that’s also included The Avengers, Daredevil, Doctor Strange, Iron Man 3 and The Punisher. So, that’s six Marvel productions to date, a figure that even some of the franchise’s biggest stars haven’t reached yet.
Of course, Kiernan is hardly a very prominent character and it’s likely that the vast majority of fans didn’t even notice the connection. But still, this is just another fun piece of connective tissue within the MCU that shows despite keeping them on separate tracks, the TV series and movies still do have a few links to one another. Let’s just hope we get some more significant connections in Phase 4.
