Spider-Man: Far From Home is expected to achieve an excellent opening weekend box office and we look at the latest figures for the next MCU film.

Predictions are being made that Spider-Man: Far From Home could achieve a $120 million opening when it swings into theaters on July 2nd. Given Independence Day and the consistency of the Marvel Cinematic Universe over the last few years, this number seems pretty accurate. It’d also make Spidey’s new adventure the fifth-highest July opening in history, behind Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s ChestThe Dark KnightThe Dark Knight Rises, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part Two.

If the $120 million holds true, Spider-Man: Far From Home will also beat Spider-Man: Homecoming, which took a still respectable $117 million in 2017. Not only that, but we’re being told that the six-day figure could rise up to $230 million if all goes as planned, and Disney will certainly be hoping that the goodwill towards Tom Holland’s Spider-Man and fans’ enthusiasm for Marvel after Avengers: Endgame won’t have dissipated by July.

Recent teaser clips from Spider-Man: Far From Home promise an exciting look at Peter Parker’s life after the second big snap, while enthusiasm for the trailers means that we may see a third Spider-Man outing as early as 2021. There’s certainly a lot of passionate fans of the hero, who’ll likely be a key part of the post-Avengers MCU and the face of the series going forward.

The upcoming sequel could also be the best sign of the new MCU though as a leaner, more self-contained prospect after the complexity of the Avengers series. But let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves.

For the moment, we’re excited to find out whether Spider-Man: Far From Home hits its box office predictions when it makes its debut on July 2nd. Though given what a roll Marvel’s been on lately, something tells us it won’t have any trouble doing so.
