Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was, without a doubt, the biggest animated surprise of last year. With its immaculate blend of heart and humor, it grossed nearly $400 million worldwide and went on to beat frontrunner Isle of Dogs for the Academy Award. So when it came to the possibility of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2, the question quickly went from “if” to “when?”

And though we don’t have an exact date at the moment, it looks like the gears at Sony are really starting to pick up steam. In a recent interview with io9, producer Amy Pascal shed some light on the process.

“We are definitely hard at work on the sequel,” Pascal revealed. “You can expect another movie.”

But Spider-Verse 2 isn’t sounding like it’ll be the only thing stemmed from the instant classic. Already, reports have indicated that a lot of the alternate dimension characters in the film will be getting their own spinoff. Among the ones we know already are Spider-Ham, Spider-Man Noir, Spider-Man 2099, and of course, Spider-Gwen Stacey. And in addition to all of that, it looks like producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller are set to be the heads of an onslaught of TV spider-verses.

Yes, it looks like this franchise won’t be slowing down for a long time to come. And be honest with yourself, does anybody really want that?

The details for the sequel are few and far between, but from what we know, it looks like Kathryn Hahn’s Doc Ock could be its main villain. With that said, if this one’s anything like its predecessor, it’ll have no problem hosting an array of super baddies for Miles to fend off. And now that he has a steady-enough grasp of his powers, the possibilities for excitement are endless.
