Here’s Why Peter Parker Wears The Stealth Suit In Spider-Man: Far From Home

A black "stealth suit" has been spotted in the new Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer, and its reason for being in the movie makes a lot of sense.

So far, we know that Peter Parker will be doing what a lot of superheroes don’t get a chance to do: take a vacation. He heads across the pond all the way to Europe with some of his classmates, including his best friend Ned (Jacob Batalon) and his crush MJ (Zendaya), but of course, trouble follows him; this time, in the form of Elementals. The film’s latest trailer sees Nick Fury recruit Spider-Man and pair him up with Mysterio, who’ll be played by Jake Gyllenhaal.

What many fans also picked up on in the trailer is the presence of a new Spider suit. This “stealth suit,” which is completely black except for its white goggles and doesn’t even appear to have the character’s iconic logo on it, seems to be designed to hide not only Peter’s identity, but Spider-Man’s as well.

Apparently, the reason Peter’s extra cautious here is so that his classmates don’t get suspicious when their “friendly-neighborhood” hero shows up thousands of miles away from his general jurisdiction. It makes sense in the case of some people, but then again, not with others.

One of the things that sets Tom Holland’s Spider-Man apart from all the others is that there are plenty of people who know his identity. Not only does he willingly blurt it out to every Avenger he meets in Infinity War, and both Ned and Aunt May discover the truth by the end of Homecoming, but it looks like M.J. has also figured it out in the trailer.

I mean, it’s not like Tony Stark or Steve Rogers were too keen on keeping their names private, so maybe the MCU just isn’t as worried about the importance of secret identities as most other superhero movies. But we know Peter likes M.J., so it’ll be interesting to see how this affects their relationship once Spider-Man: Far From Home swings into theaters on July 2nd.
