Yes, some of you may have noticed this during its theatrical run, but many are just discovering a cool easter egg hidden in the Marvel Studios intro at the beginning of Endgame. Since it first appeared to kick off 2016’s Doctor Strange, we’ve got used to seeing the intro, so that’s probably why a lot of us missed the fact that Marvel clearly altered it this time around to reflect the Snap.

As highlighted by IGN, any heroes who were dusted by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War were removed from the intro. Watch it again and you’ll see there’s no Black Panther, Scarlet Witch, Falcon, Spider-Man etc. Even Ant-Man has been removed, which just goes to show the attention to detail that they went to with this, as the surviving Avengers believe Scott Lang to be one of the victims.

Of course, this is the second time this year Marvel played around with the intro. To mark the passing of the legendary creator, Captain Marvel kicked off with a Stan Lee-flavored version in which the clips of the heroes were replaced by shots of Stan’s various cameos.

What’s interesting is that this willingness to switch-up the Marvel Studios intro raises the question of whether it will be permanently updated following the deaths of Iron Man and Black Widow and the retirement of Captain America in Avengers: Endgame. Will these defunct heroes be replaced in order to keep up with the fresh new feel of Phase 4? I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
