Stallone Wields An Iconic Weapon In New Rambo V: Last Blood Photo

There are few more iconic weapons for John Rambo than his compound bow. One of the best action sequences in Rambo: First Blood Part II comes when he stealthily eliminates a squad of soldiers in a North Vietnamese prison camp. From there, it instantly became part of the character's iconography, popping up in Rambo III where he uses it to destroy helicopters and again in Rambo when he's seen using it for fishing.

What I’m saying is that Rambo really likes using a bow and arrow. And now, courtesy of this picture posted by Sylvester Stallone on Instagram, we can confirm that the iconic weapon will be making an appearance in Rambo V: Last Blood.

The photo came with the caption: “Death is coming your way, and there’s nothing in this world you can do to stop it…” Rambo said calmly to the gang of killers.” This is presumably a line from the script, and it sounds like our hero is pretty damn pissed off. This makes sense, too, given that he’s going up against a Mexican drug cartel that’s kidnapped the sister of the nurse that’s caring for him as he suffers from PTSD.

The presence of the bow and arrow indicates that the film will hew pretty closely to the established Rambo style as well, so I’d bet that we’ll see him slowly infiltrate one of the cartel’s compounds and silently dispatch their armed guards. Given that Rambo will be pretty damn old here, it’s understandable that he’d want to play it low-key for as long as possible – though I still wouldn’t want to be some gangster who’s pissed off John Rambo, no matter what the circumstances.

With the film recently having completed shooting and rumored to be targeting a Fall 2019 release date, we might see a teaser trailer for Rambo V: Last Blood very soon. Given that Stallone is an excellent self-publicist for his projects, I’d suggest you keep an eye on his always entertaining Instagram account.
