Life in the world of Stan Lee has taken a turn for the worst over the last little while.

Among other things, we’ve seen allegations of elder abuse (including the LAPD being called to Lee’s house), reports of hundreds of thousands of dollars being stolen from him, sexual abuse allegations against Lee and his manager and, perhaps most bizarre of all, a story saying that someone’s been stealing Stan Lee’s blood in order to create a special ink to sign comics with.

There’s a lot of ins and outs to this twisted tale, but it appears that the man’s troubles aren’t done just yet. The other day, two gunmen were arrested by police outside of Lee’s house, after a 911 call was placed. From what we understand, the individuals in question had confronted the comic book legend demanding that he pay them some money he owed.

A Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) spokeswoman said the following about the situation:

“Officers were called to a property on the 9100 block of Oriole Way at 7.30pm after reports of an assault. It was claimed that a suspect had a gun and was threatening. Officers detained two individuals that matched the description and an investigation is ongoing. Three units are still on scene including officers and detectives.”

Meanwhile, a source for The Daily Mail described the incident as follows:

“It was crazy, the cops had their guns drawn and there were spotlights from two police helicopters, it was very scary and pretty intense. The cops said, ‘Put your hands up’, so the guys got on their knees and on the floor, they were handcuffed and they were put in the car.”

Stan Lee

Though Lee is certainly getting on in age – he’s 95-years-old – it seems like he’s still got all his marbles. At least, judging by his video appearances on social media. So, what’s going on, then? Well, the working theory seems to be that the 2017 death of his wife, Joan, who he was married to for nearly seventy years, has left an administrative hole in his life that’s been filled by nefarious characters with designs on his fortune.

Honestly, it’s quite sad that what should be a time for Lee to relax and smell the roses – not to mention enjoy his last few years – has been occupied by this much controversy and sensationalism. It’s unclear where things could go next, but hopefully it’ll be a while before another story crops up that ends up being even more bizarre than this one. Though with the way his life is currently going, we imagine it’ll be just a matter of weeks before the next chapter in the “What the heck is going on with Stan Lee now?” book is written.
