Star Trek Sequel Gets A Release Date

Fanboys and fangirls, rejoice: the sequel to nerd deity J.J. Abrams‘s 2009 Stark Trek reboot has an official release date, and it’s not too far away. The Star Trek sequel will land at a theater near you on May 17, 2013.

Little is known about the film’s plot, but we do know that Abrams will be making the film in 3D and that the central cast will be returning. Expect to see your faves – Chris Pine (Kirk), Zachary Quinto (Spock), Zoe Saldana (Uhura), Karl Urban (Bones), John Cho (Sulu), Anton Yelchin (Chekov), and Simon Pegg (Scotty) – back on the big screen.

I’m a huge fan of J.J. Abrams‘s Star Trek, even though I’d never seen an episode of the mega-hit before I saw the movie. The way Abrams immediately introduced an alternate universe plot-line was genius, making it almost impossible to find comparable errors to the rest of the series while simultaneously opening up Star Trek to new fans.

Are you looking forward to the Star Trek sequel? Let us know what you think in the comments.
