Thanks to a very revealing new video from the Vancouver set of Star Trek Beyond, we finally have our first look at some of the main characters in action. The footage features James T. Kirk (Chris Pine), Pavel Chekov (Anton Yelchin), Montgomery Scott (Simon Pegg) and – most interestingly – the mysterious alien character played by Kingsman: The Secret Service actress Sofia Boutella.
Though Scotty is wearing classic Starfleet gear, both Chekov and Kirk are dressed in slightly more militaristic new uniforms. Is this just for a mission, or have they been assigned to another crew for some reason?
As for Boutella’s character, we still don’t know a single thing about her (aside from the fact that she seems to be a good guy), but you may notice she does resemble those aliens that Kirk and McCoy were running from at the beginning of Star Trek Into Darkness.
Justin Lin is in the director’s seat for Star Trek Beyond, which will also star Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Jon Cho, and Zoe Saldana, along with new faces Joe Taslim, Lydia Wilson and Idris Elba. The movie is set to hit theatres on July 8, 2016.
