Among the insights offered in the recently surfaced images is the design for a new character named Zorii that reports indicate will be played by Keri Russell. As you can see below, the figure is wearing a purple jumpsuit and a helmet, while wielding a blaster in her left hand. And according to some fans, the design is reminiscent of an outfit worn by one of the key players in the Prequel Trilogy.

In Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones, Padmé Amidala journeys to the planet of Geonosis in a getup that was a little more action-ready than her usual clothing. Like Zorii, she too wore a jumpsuit and a utility belt, along with a pair of silver armbands.

The similarities are certainly there, though the real question here is whether or not there’s any actual significance to the parallels between these two outfits, and to be honest, it’s currently looking unlikely. After all, the Star Wars galaxy has a certain aesthetic to it, making it only natural that unrelated characters would wear vaguely similar clothing.

In fact, you could probably make the case that Padmé’s outfit is more similar to Rey’s latest design than Zorii’s. And in a Reddit leak from last month that accurately described Zorii’s clothing, an arguably more fitting comparison was made between Russell’s character and bounty hunter Zam Wesell from Attack of the Clones. Regardless, we’ve got plenty of time to speculate on Zorii’s place in the saga before Star Wars: Episode IX hits theaters on December 20th, 2019.
