Disney’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge theme park expansion is still several months away from opening at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, but if you’d like a better idea already of the immersive experience that this place will bring, the Theme Park Stop podcast has shared some alleged intel on the Rise of the Resistance ride, including the claim that the attraction will be about 28 minutes long.
To break down this surprisingly lengthy journey, it’s said that the whole thing opens with a 4-and-a-half-minute ride by carrier shuttle into the stars where visitors are taken prisoner by the First Order. It also reportedly features a whole load of special effects, including lasers fired by life-size AT-AT walkers and 305 state-of-the-art animatronic figures, over 100 of which act as Stormtroopers in pursuit.
The First Order Fleet Transport ride vehicles come complete with a guiding droid, and have been likened by Alicia Stella of Theme Park Stop to the vehicles used in Disneyland Paris’ Ratatouille ride. After exiting the shuttle, guests will then enter into the intimidatingly huge Star Destroyer hangar, from which they make their escape with the help of the Resistance.
All in all, it sounds like Disney isn’t taking half-measures with the experience, with Rise of the Resistance serving as just one part of what the company has described as the “largest single-land expansion ever.” Among the other features that Galaxy’s Edge has to offer is a ride titled Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run, which allows visitors to pilot Han Solo’s ship for an experience that’s said to be slightly different every time.
Fans can judge for themselves if the region is worth the recent hike in ticket prices when Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens in Disneyland, before coming to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, in the fall.
