Figures relayed by Deadline have revealed that Rian Johnson’s Star Wars sequel capped off a strong Tuesday to become the 19th highest-grossing film of all time at $1.09 billion, placing it just in front of Toy Story 3 ($1.07 billion) and The Dark Knight Rises ($1.08 billion).

That’s an impressive feat in and of itself, particularly when you consider that The Last Jedi has already leapfrogged Rogue One‘s box office total in only three-and-a-half weeks. It’ll likely fall short of The Force Awakens, though, after box office forecasts predicted a final cume in the region of $1.6 billion, whereas J.J. Abrams’ franchise revival brought in a staggering $2.06 billion in 2015. Granted, it held the distinction of being the first Star Wars movie in almost a decade, so it’s important to bear that in mind when running the rule over The Last Jedi‘s takings.

And according to Deadline’s breakdown, the Rian Johnson-directed sequel continues to dominate international territories, which certainly bodes well for its release in China (January 6th).

Indeed, the latest rundown reveals that The Last Jedi‘s UK box office is nearing $100 million, followed by Germany ($65.1M), France ($51.2M off of a great Tuesday at $4.4M), Japan ($44.9M including a strong $2.4M yesterday) and Australia at $36.7M. Come Friday, China will likely act as a second wind for the Lucasfilm sequel, pushing it toward that projected $1.6 billion total.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi initially touched down in theaters on December 15th, and ever since, Rian Johnson’s has blown past one box office milestone after another. It’s by no means the perfect sequel, after a portion of the Star Wars community (and Mark Hamill) initially took issue with Johnson’s creative vision, but all in all, The Last Jedi has been a resounding success for Disney and Lucasfilm.
