Even after the massive blowout for Force Friday II, Disney and Lucasfilm have kept Star Wars: The Last Jedi on a remarkably tight leash.
To date, we’ve only clocked eyes on the one teaser trailer for Rian Johnson’s upcoming sequel, and even that was fairly light on story details. From Rey training aboard Ahch-To to a colossal space battle between the First Order and the Resistance – between the Supremacy and the Raddus, perhaps? – The Last Jedi‘s inaugural promo was essentially designed as a status update on all of our favorite heroes.
Some of those characters take center stage once again thanks to two new posters (and an awesome piece of promo art) for Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Coming to us by way of CBM, the first, beautifully stylish one-sheet places Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) on opposite sides of a lightsaber – and, by effect, opposite sides of the Force. The second of today’s posters, meanwhile, is more of a callback to the Star Wars posters of old, and gathers many of the sequel’s key players.
Off the back of Force Friday II, surely The Last Jedi‘s new trailer will be released online sooner rather than later? The first one came during Star Wars Celebration back in April, so we imagine the Powers That Be – writer-director Rian Johnson included – are currently putting the final touches to Lucasfilm’s December blockbuster. Regardless of when that full-length promo arrives, though, we’ll have it for you here on We Got This Covered.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi makes a beeline for theaters on December 15th. It’s one of four tentpole projects from that galaxy far, far away simmering in the works, alongside the untitled Han Solo movie, an Obi-Wan anthology pic and Colin Trevorrow’s Episode IX.
