Star-Lord Expected To Stick Around The MCU After Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3

Another day, another bout of supposed MCU leaks which tease how things could play out in Phase Four and beyond. We've heard so many different, often conflicting, reports and rumors on where the franchise is going that it's best to take any of these leaks with a skepticism. However, this one is particularly interesting as it offers up some info we haven't heard before: it's possible that Chris Pratt could stay on as Star-Lord beyond Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

A bunch of alleged facts about Phase Four were recently shared in a 4Chan leak before being deleted. However, a Reddit user recorded them for posterity on the Marvel Studios Spoilers subreddit. One of the most intriguing is the claim that Pratt has several movies remaining on his contract and is expected to use them up with further appearances as Peter Quill after the upcoming threequel.

This is shocking to hear, as we’ve always been told that Vol. 3 would wrap up the story of the Guardians. The leak does reiterate that the film will be the team’s final appearance in the MCU, though. So that either means that Quill will be the only one who has a future in the franchise or that a few of the group will stick around and they’ll just go their separate ways after Guardians 3.

Pratt has so far starred in four Marvel films, with leading roles in the first two Guardians, a major supporting turn in Avengers: Infinity War and an extended cameo in Avengers: EndgameThat last one concluded with Star-Lord searching for the time-travelled 2014 version of Gamora that’s out there somewhere. No doubt that’ll be a significant subplot in Vol. 3, but maybe we can infer that he doesn’t find her if he’ll show up again in more movies.

In any case, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is thought to be filming next year ahead of an expected arrival in theaters in 2021, and as soon as we hear more on the threequel, we’ll be sure to let you know.
