According to THR, Warner Brothers is already looking at actors to fill the roles in their recently-announced Suicide Squad film, which will be helmed by Fury and End of Watch director David Ayer. The studio is reportedly looking to fill the film with A-list talent, and have already approached Will Smith, Ryan Gosling, Margot Robbie and Tom Hardy.

Despite the fact that the project is still in early development, the actors are “fielding offers” as we speak as the studio is “making overtures for what is to be an A-list ensemble piece filled with colorful anti-heroes.” Yep, sounds like the Suicide Squad!

Gosling is also eying the lead in Dean Parisot’s Houdini, while Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street) is currently enjoying a nice, busy schedule with high-profile projects like David Yate’s Tarzan and the Ghost in the Shell adaptation. Whether or not either of them will have room for Suicide Squad is up for debate.

Hardy, on the other hand, has nabbed one big role after another ever since his star-turning role in Inception. I wonder if he’d be interested in another DC villain role after playing Bane in The Dark Knight Rises, though there’s no denying that he’d be an incredible Deadshot. He was also recently approached for Marvel’s Doctor Strange, though we’re not sure how close he ever came to being in negotiations.

Meanwhile, Will Smith seems primed for a role like this, after some disappointments in his career over the last few years. He’s likely looking for a successful high-profile superhero pic after the poorly-received Hancock, and needs to prove that he’s still a viable action star after a movie like After Earth.

Tell us, would you like to see any of these actors in the Suicide Squad? And, which of the recently-rumored roles would you like to see them play? Let us know in the comments section below.

Directed by David Ayer, Suicide Squad is scheduled to hit theaters on August 5th, 2016.
