Supergirl star understandably freaks out over ‘The Flash’ trailer

Sasha Calle is buzzing with excitement at the full unveiling of Supergirl, but will she return after 'The Flash'?

It’s been a long and controversial road, but The Flash will finally speed into theaters this summer. The long-awaited solo outing for Ezra Miller’s DCU hero looks set to take Barry Allen across the multiverse, with the Super Bowl trailer revealing that his screwing with the fabric of space and time has resulted in an alternative Earth with no metahumans on it.

This appears to result in the events of Man of Steel playing out very differently. With no Superman around, Michael Shannon’s Zod scores an easy victory, doubtless resulting in the skull-strewn hellscape we saw in Clark’s nightmare a decade ago. But it seems that there may be one Kryptonian still able to put up a fight.

This is Sasha Calle’s Kara Zor-El, who looks to have been imprisoned for years before Barry(s) free her. Once she’s out, it seems Supergirl is quick to don the classic costume and bring the fight to Zod, and Calle is overjoyed that we’ve finally seen her in action:

Despite this, questions remain over whether this will be Calle’s only outing in the blue and red. James Gunn recently unveiled Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow as a new DCU project, which adapts a comic showing a very different take on the character. With Gunn clearly wanting a soft reset on decisions made before he took over, chances are he’ll recast the role.

But seeing Calle in action has social media buzzing with praise, so let’s hope that popularity means that the Woman of Tomorrow Supergirl can be an Elseworlds story, and the core DCU character can continue to be played by Calle.

The Flash zips into theaters on Jun. 15 2023.
