Yesterday, the first trailer for John Hillcoat‘s Cannes bound Lawless was released. Today, the studio continues their marketing push as we have the first teaser poster and some brand new images from the film.

For those not familiar with Lawless, check out the plot summary below.

“Lawless is the true story of the infamous Bondurant Brothers: bootlegging siblings who made a run for the American Dream in Prohibition-era Virginia. In this epic gangster tale, inspired by true-life tales of author Matt Bondurant’s family in his novel The Wettest County in the World, the loyalty of three brothers is put to the test against the backdrop of the nation’s most notorious crime wave.”

Having read the wonderful novel by Matt Bondurant, I can almost guarantee that the film will be excellent. Not only is the story very engaging and gripping but the film also benefits from an all star cast and a talented director in John Hillcoat. Despite all the delays and pre-production nightmares, it looks like Lawless may be a huge hit and possibly, earn some Awards buzz.

Lawless stars Shia LaBeouf, Tom Hardy, Jessica Chastain, Guy Pearce, Gary Oldman, Mia Wasikowska and Jason Clarke and will be released on August 31st, 2012.

Check out the new poster and images for the film below.
