‘Teen Wolf’s Mark Arnold to star in terrifying take on a classic horror story

'A unique take' on a 'globally loved story.'

Way back in 1897, science fiction author H.G. Wells wrote a book called The Invisible Man – about a scientist who figures out a way to turn himself unseeable but can’t figure out how to turn back, and violence ensues. The book created one of the most recognizable horror characters of all time, and periodically a new movie gets made featuring an iteration of the character. Now there’s a another one coming out: Fear the Invisible Man.

The movie is a remake of the novel and also set in the 1890s. It was directed by Paul Dudbridge (Horizon) and written by Philip Daay (Crystal’s Shadow). The movie is the story of Adeline, a widow who takes in a medical school colleague who’s achieved invisibility.

“As he schemes to unleash a reign of terror and murder, she must find a way to stop him from wreaking havoc across the city,” reads the synopsis. It stars Mhairi Calvey (Braveheart), David Hayman (The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas), Mike Beckingham (Truth Seekers), and Mark Arnold (Teen Wolf).

101 Films International is handling the film’s distribution. CEO Andy Lyon told Deadline that the movie is “such a unique take” on a “globally loved story. … It’s an intriguing reimagining created by the brilliant M & M Film Productions team with a strong cast and incredible photography.”

It’s never easy to tell from a trailer, but it looks like a serviceable reimagining at the very least. The trailer shows all the requisite Invisible Man images, including footsteps in the snow, blood coming out of nowhere, impressions on sofas, and a figure in a coat.

Oh, and the classic sand throwing on an invisible body. Fear the Invisible Man hits theaters in the U.K. and United States in June of this year.
