With Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse‘s recent theatrical release, the hype surrounding Miles Morales is at an all-time high, and movie-goers aren’t the only ones being consumed by it. As the possibility of the character getting a live-action debut floats in the air, young actors such as Miles Brown are already throwing their own names in the ballot.
According to a tweet from New Rockstars, the Black-ish actor is ready to accept the part, should Marvel ever offer it to him. Brown makes a compelling case as to why he should get to play Miles Morales, citing his age, height, Afro-Latino roots, and even his name as examples.
The actor had already expressed this wish in the past. Speaking with BUILD Series in 2019, Brown confessed to being a “die-hard Marvel fan” and revealed that he has already made his interest clear to people involved with Marvel projects:
“They already know, like they’ve seen Instagram, they’ve seen everything, so it’s really up to them at this point. I’ve already talked about it, you know, with Tom [Holland] (…) I even saw Donald Glover at the Black Panther premiere (…) and I was like ‘I really wanted to be Miles Morales, I just wanted to tell you, I don’t know if you could do anything.'”
While fans would certainly be happy to see Brown in a Spider-Man role, he has some competition. Jabari Banks has also shown interest in playing Miles Morales, and Stranger Things‘ Caleb McLaughlin has been mentioned as a potentially good fit, despite the choice having been met with mixed reactions from fans.
There are plenty of amazing actors who could bring Morales to life, but it’s difficult to please everyone. When the time comes, it’s likely that fans will find something to complain about, regardless of who is picked.
