Teresa Palmer Lobbying For Role Opposite Ben Affleck In The Batman

Anna Kendrick isn’t the only actress in the mix for Ben Affleck’s The Batman; Teresa Palmer, star of Lights Out, Triple 9 and imminent war drama Hacksaw Ridge, is lobbying for a role opposite Affleck’s Caped Crusader in the forthcoming solo movie as well.

Chatting to Screen Rant, the actress revealed her desire to bring a new spin to Talia Al Ghul (AKA Miranda Tate), the duplicitous anti-hero last portrayed on the big screen by Marion Cotillard four years ago for The Dark Knight Rises. Daughter to supervillain Ra’s al Ghul and on-off love interest to Bruce Wayne, it remains to be seen whether Talia will filter into the story of Affleck’s hotly-anticipated spinoff. Should the opportunity ever present itself, though, Palmer is very much on board.

“I was going to be her. I think Marion Cotillard played, I don’t know how to pronounce her last name by the way… she played Talia Al Ghul in one of the Batmans, I remember thinking, okay well, obviously she’s going to play Talia Al Ghul, but if there’s ever an opportunity I would absolutely love it. Put it out there. Can you put it out there for me?” she said.

Palmer is referring to the time she was attached to Justice League Mortal, George Miller’s canned ensemble movie from 2008. Had that one panned out, the actress would have indeed played Talia Al Ghul. Is that a good omen of things to come? We’ll find out soon.

The Batman is without a release date at this time, but that hasn’t stopped Ben Affleck from entering full-on research mode. He’ll next don the cape and cowl for Zack Snyder’s Justice League in 2017.
