Just a few weeks ago we brought you new plot details on the upcoming film, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D. Now, we have the official release date. IGN is reporting that The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D will be making its way into cinemas on October 5th, 2012, which is just three weeks before the scheduled Halloween 3D is set to be released.

“Both John Luessenhop and I intend to deliver a new chapter derived from Tobe Hooper’s 1973 masterpiece with the goal of making it as horrifying as the original, in 3D,” said producer Carl Mazzocone.

If both these movies turn out well, then this will be one hell of an October. Who would have thought that in October 2012 we would be seeing two classic horror icons go toe to toe? Even if both films manage to completely suck, I’d be more willing to take Leatherface vs. Mike Myers than Paranormal Activity 3 vs. some other shitty horror film.

Saw was the collapse of the last decent horror series and I don’t think Paranormal Activity has what it takes to fill the void. The first one was pretty awful and the second one wasn’t any better.

At least with Saw we got a few good instalments and a few crappy ones, followed by a decent ending. It was way past due to end and now that it’s gone, I kind of miss it. October won’t be the same without its staple franchises but hopefully Myers and Leatherface will serve up some decent scares this Halloween.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D is directed by John Lussenhop and will be chainsawing its way through screens on October 5th, 2012.

I'm an avid watcher of films and I just love discussing and sharing them with the world. I enjoy horror, sci-fi and mostly any genre under the sun, plus I have a slight obsession with Blu-ray's and the whole high definition craze.
