‘The Flash’ star reveals how Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman made her Supergirl casting sweeter

Gal Gadot's inspiring portrayal plays a sweet part in Sasha Calle's casting as Supergirl.

Andy Muschietti cast Sasha Calle in The Flash over a Zoom meeting, which left the actress in tears. That was more than two years back. Now, The Flash will soon hit theaters, and Calle will be donning the red cape in the multiversal DC outing. Pre-release screening reviews have singled out her performance already, and fans await watching her in action.

But for Calle, her casting in the role took her back to a cosmic coincidence from her college days. In a recent featurette for The Flash, Calle revealed how she connected to DCEU using a vision board she made during college. Coincidentally, said board featured Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, who was already a prominent franchise member back then. As destiny would have it, Calle is now part of the same franchise, and will could end up sharing the screen with Gadot if she ends up cameoing in The Flash

“I remember graduating college, and I did a vision board, and Gal Gadot was on there as Wonder Woman. And now I feel really blessed that I am playing Supergirl. I think what got me most excited about being part of The Flash is playing a superhero. She’s badass.”

Even though it’s Barry Allen’s film, Supergirl is undoubtedly taking center stage in the movie, and is making her feature film debut. Gadot has played Wonder Woman in the franchise since Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, and her performance in the role has gained acclaim for being an inspirational portrayal. Interestingly, that inspiration has worked its way back into the series through Calle’s casting.

Calle’s future in the forthcoming DC Universe being planned by James Gunn remains a mystery, but one could only hope for the best. The Flash releases on June 16, 2023. Would you want Sasha Calle and Gal Gadot to share the screen in the film? Or in a future DCU entry, perhaps?
