With the marketing campaign for Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice now in full swing, it’s time for Warner Bros. to start pumping out material for their other big 2016 superhero film: David Ayer’s hugely-anticipated Suicide Squad.

While we’re still awaiting that second trailer, which is said to arrive on January 19th, the studio has dropped a new image to tide us over, which shows the whole gang assembled and ready for action. Along with the photo, Ayer also spoke to USA today about why it was so much fun making a film where the main characters are all bad guys.

“We all need good guys and everything — yay, good guys — but at the end of the day, they’re kinda boring,” Ayer says. “They’re always going to do the right thing. When you’re dealing with the baddies, it’s easy to get ahead of the audience and invert expectations.”

The director then talked about working within a larger cinematic universe and what he had to keep in mind while making Suicide Squad.

“For me, it’s a little more than just dropping a cut scene in the end credits to link projects. You really have to be thinking three movies downrange and how today’s movie will impact more later-cycle projects.”

Suicide Squad will break into theatres on August 5th. Check out the new photo above and leave a comment letting us know if you’re digging what you’ve seen from the film so far.
