‘There is the opportunity to do that’: Another ‘John Wick’ star throws their hat into the spin-off ring

The potential of the 'Wick' universe is staggering.

Watching Keanu Reeves transform from human cinnamon roll to a one-man death machine is all good and fun, but the true draw of the John Wick franchise is the delectably untapped mythology of its universe. From mysterious characters like Caine to the many machinations of the High Table and its network of Continental Hotels to the factions of the world that we haven’t met yet; the world-building is second to none.

This will all hopefully be made most apparent once the franchise’s incoming offshoots rear their heads, namely Ballerina, the Ana de Armas-led spin-off that will follow the journey of wannabe assassin Rooney, and The Continental: From the World of John Wick, a Peacock miniseries chronicling the rise of Winston Scott to the role of the New York Continental’s concierge. If the branch-outs wrack up the necessary numbers, we could be in for more John Wick than ever before.

One newcomer to the Wick universe is all but ready to nab a spin-off of his own if the world so allows it; in a recent interview with ScreenRant, Scott Adkins, who portrays Killa in Chapter 4, remarked on the potential of a solo adventure, which could peer into the backstory of the kinetic kickboxer and how he rose to his position at the Table.

“I would love to come back to John Wick universe of course. There is the opportunity to do that I suppose. We should do the prequel Killa. How he got fat. Me before and after. Yeah, I would love to come back. I really enjoyed the character. A lot of fun. People seem to really respond to him and of course, the well-thought-out movies. I’d love to do that. Yeah.”

It would have to be a prequel, of course, since John brought on Killa’s demise in order to gain the support of the Ruska Roma crime syndicate (which would make for a great spinoff in its own right), but for a world as sprawling as the one born in the Wick universe, we’d be more than happy to explore every inch of it, Killa’s plight included.
