“Oh Miek, you’re alive! What was your question again, bro?”

Undoubtedly one of the highlights of Thor: Ragnarok, Korg and Miek’s strange and goofy relationship looks set to continue beyond 2018, according to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige.

Leading up to the release of Avengers: Infinity War ($630 million worldwide and counting), the studio’s head honcho spoke to Fandango about all things Marvel, including his desire to spin out a possible continuation of Korg and Miek’s story now that Ragnarok has come and gone.

That may indicate that Marvel’s odd couple somehow managed to survive the assault from Thanos and his devious children (read: the Black Order), though there’s every chance Feige is referring to some form of prequel that could potentially trace the pair’s journey to Sakaar.

We have plans for Korg and Miek … When and where we’ll have to wait and see, but we, like the audience now that they’ve seen them, can’t get enough. We were talking about doing a little spin-off … like one of these One-Shot short films with Korg and Miek… like [them] just going shopping and things.

Korg and Miek

Frankly, that Marvel Studios has “plans” for the future of Korg and Miek is exciting in and of itself, as it ensures Taika Waititi – director of Thor: Ragnarok and the voice/performance artist behind Korg – will return to the MCU at some point in the future. Now all we need is for the Powers That Be to green light a fourth Thor movie that sees Waititi and Chris Hemsworth return to direct and headline, respectively. One can dream.

At the moment though, all eyes in the MCU are trained on Avengers: Infinity War, which has already made box office history in its first weekend. And things are just getting started.
