Today we finally have our first look at Tom Hardy as our titular hero in the upcoming Mad Max: Fury Road. Ya, that film still exists. Today we finally have our first look at Tom Hardy as our titular hero in the upcoming Mad Max: Fury Road. Ya, that film still exists. In fact, we just heard that it had some reshoots to complete this November. Unfortunately, there’s still no release date yet but we’re expecting it to drop sometime in 2014.

As for the photo, it actually leaked out a while back but this is the official, high-res version and it shows off Hardy in the middle of a desert standing in front of his motorcycle. Nothing too revealing but it’s still nice to finally get an official look at the film since we’ve seen so little of it up to this point.

Directed by George Miller, the film is said to follow Max as he becomes “caught up with a group of people fleeing across the Wasteland in a War Rig driven by the Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron).” Nicholas Hoult, Zoe Kravitz, Riley Keough and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley will co-star.

Personally, I’m still holding out hope for this one. I know that production troubles, delays and reshoots usually spell trouble but I’m hopeful that the film will turn out alright. I like Hardy, a lot, and the Mad Max series in general is a staple of the genre. It would be a shame if this instalment soils Max’s reputation.
