Tom Hardy’s Venom May Cameo In Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse

As you surely know, there's quite a lot going on with the Spider-Man property right now. Of course, Peter Parker himself is swinging around the Marvel Cinematic Universe with his next appearance set to be in Avengers: Infinity War. Beyond that, though, we've also got some stuff coming down the pipeline from Sony. Namely, Venom and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

Now here’s a strange rumor…

As you surely know, there’s quite a lot going on with the Spider-Man property right now. Of course, Peter Parker himself is swinging around the Marvel Cinematic Universe with his next appearance set to be in Avengers: Infinity War. Beyond that, though, we’ve also got some stuff coming down the pipeline from Sony. Namely, Venom and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

From what we understand though, there’s not set to be any kind of connection between the two. After all, the latter is animated while the former is live-action. Not to mention that Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who are working on Into the Spider-Verse, have already confirmed that it’ll be its own thing. Apparently, though, that may not be entirely true.

A new report from Fandom Wire tells us that Venom will actually appear in the film and, get this, it’ll be Tom Hardy who voices him. Citing an anonymous source, the outlet does make clear that this might be nothing more than a fun easter egg for fans, rather than setting up a connection between the two movies, but with no further details to go on, it’s hard to say for sure what’s happening here. If this is even true, that is.

There’s also the fact that recent rumors point to Tom Holland’s Peter Parker swinging by Venom for a cameo, which only confuses things even more because, once again, there’s supposedly no connection between the two universes. But if Holland is indeed involved in Hardy’s movie, and Hardy’s voicing Venom in Into the Spider-Verse, well, let’s just say someone needs to clear this all up, and soon.

In the meantime, what we can tell you with absolute certainty is that Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse swings into theaters on December 14th. It’s directed by Rise of the Guardians‘ Peter Ramsey and Puss in Boots’ Bob Persichetti, with a script from Phil Lord and Chris Miller which is based on a story by them and Gravity Falls creator Alex Hirsch.
