That’s the sound of Tom Holland dropping another spoiler related to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it appears this one is about next month’s Spidey sequel, Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Coming to us by way of director Jon Watts (Homecoming), Far From Home is a Euro adventure in which Holland’s Peter Parker travels across the pond for some much-needed R&R after the calamitous events of Infinity War and its incredible sequel, Avengers: Endgame. But it seems the young actor and all-around MCU favorite is still prone to divulging plot information when he isn’t supposed to – like, for instance, when Tom Holland spoke to press earlier this week, he confirmed that the Mad Titan himself, Thanos, is actually responsible for the Elementals.

“Mysterio is my new best friend in the movie. We fight together to fight these creatures… because when Thanos snaps his fingers, these creatures come from other dimensions,” said Holland.

It’s seemingly part of an Avengers: Endgame ripple effect that will echo throughout Spider-Man: Far From Home, which also sees Peter Parker struggling to process the sudden loss of Tony Stark – a loss made all the more devastating by the fact that Parker himself (temporarily) passed away during the tail-end of Infinity War.

And the Elementals? Well, this is certainly a new spin on the comic book lore, and further cements Far From Home‘s place in the MCU timeline. Make no mistake, this Spidey sequel takes place after the events of Endgame, and not a moment sooner.

Spider-Man: Far From Home opens big next month, and only then will we know how Marvel’s Phase 4 will pan out. Chances are it revolves around Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, and Spidey – the new generation of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes – as they begin to confront some unforeseen threat.
